Common used fiber optic test equipment includes fiber optic power meter, fiber optic light source, optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR), fiber fault locator and optical talk set. Optical power meter is used for absolute optical fiber power measurement as well as fiber optic loss related measurement. Optical light source is used with power meter to test the fiber system loss. Multimeter is an integrated unit of power meter and light source. OTDR is classic fiber optic test equipment, it is most easy to use but it is also one of the most expensive, OTDR could give you an overview of the whole system you test and it could test the whole system fiber length, joint point and loss. Fault locator's name already express its function, it could be regarded to be part of OTDR and fiber fault locator is cheap.

When choosing the fiber test equipments, besides the function and quality of the instrument, you have to consider the specifications of the fiber optic system that you are going to test, for example, the working wavelength (typical is 1310nm, 1550nm and 850nm), fiber light source type, fiber optic glass type (single mode or multimode), fiber connection interface (like FC, SC) and the system capacity and possible loss range.Fiber optic test equipment working environment is also the factor you should consider, whether you are going to use the fiber optic instrument indoor or outdoor, the equipment working temperature, power supply, battery life. Portable fiber optical test equipment usually should be able to use battery as power, it is suggested to choose the test equipments that could also use very common type battery.

In the past, fiber optic power meter and fiber optic light source are two different type of fiber optic test equipment; they are usually used together to form the pair in the fiber optic test work. Fiber optic multi meter is a combo of the two, it combines the function of fiber optic power meter and fiber optic light source and the user can easily switch to choose the multi meter function via the control menu.

The fiber optic multimeter test range is classified by -70dBm to +6dBm and -50dBm to +26dBm as two types. Typical working wavelength for this multimeter is 850nm, 980nm, 1300nm, 1310nm and 1550nm in each single unit. Its fiber optic interface is FC Universal 2.5mm adaptor. Output power at -7dBm, spectral Width less than 10nm, Output Stability ±0.05dB/15mins; ±0.1dB/ 8hours,Modulation Frequencies is 270Hz, 1KHz, 2KHz. using the Rechargeable Battery + Battery Charger, it can work continuously for 6 hours under both power meter and light source function or work continuously for 26 hours for only power meter function. It is designed with an auto-off function and it can cut off the power if not work for more than 10 minutes.

This fiber optic multimeter is small in weight (net 300g) and measurement. (180mmx90mmx36.5mm) And is a useful tool for fiber optic network maintenance and testing.

The fiber optic identifier can detect the optical cable types without disturbing or stop the cable work.

Fiber optic identifier,FI-06, the fiber optic identifier is useful tool used in fiber optic maintenance works, it can isolate a single mode or multimode cable without stop or disturb the cables’ working condition, it can perform the detection work at any position of the cables.
